British Yarn Mills
Guide To Our Materials
At Rove, we are committed to sourcing the finest British-spun natural yarns, chosen for their quality, sustainability, and traceability. We work with trusted British suppliers who share our values, ensuring every fibre can be traced back to its source.
Natural, renewable, and biodegradable, our yarns are carefully selected to create knitwear that is not only beautiful but also built to last. By using wool and cashmere from responsible producers, we celebrate traditional craftsmanship while making choices that are better for the planet.
This guide takes you through the materials we use, their unique properties, and why they matter.
From Huddersfield, Yorkshire
100% Merino Lambswool
Merinos’ have been specially bred to produce the softest and finest wool. Lambswool is wool from the first shearing of the animal. Shipped from Australia where the warm weather means sheep have lighter, finer fleece.
From Shipley, Yorkshire
100% British Wool
Using the exquisite Bluefaced Leicester for softness and Masham for durability. Using home grown wool can be a challenge but it greatly reduces our carbon footprint and it benefits local farmers and the environment.
From Aberdeenshire
100% Pure New Wool
Spun in beautiful heather melange shades inspired by the Scottish landscape. Softer than our British wool and more fuzzy than Merino - we have been knitting our jumpers in this soft cosy yarn since 2013.
From County Donegal
100% Merino Donegal
Now a widely used term, "Donegal" refers to a style of wool/fabric with flecks of colour spun into the yarn. We source our from the original mill in County Donegal, Northern Ireland. Our favourite 1x1 rib beanies are knitted in this joyful yarn.
